Operations Manager

Subsidiary: Surge Microfinance

Purpose of the Job:

Reporting to the General Manager, the role oversees operational and credit functions, ensuring smooth operations, efficient credit management, and effective risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to streamline processes.
  • Oversee day-to-day banking operations and customer services.
  • Monitor operational KPIs to optimize processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Coordinate operational activities with finance to align with business objectives.
  • Implement quality control measures for service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop credit policies, guidelines, and procedures compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate creditworthiness, review applications, and set credit limits.
  • Manage accounts receivable aging and improve collection efforts.
  • Cultivate relationships with customers, banks, and credit agencies.
  • Conduct periodic credit reviews and risk assessments.
  • Identify and mitigate operational and credit-related risks.
  • Establish internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assess operational processes for improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate on risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Supervise and mentor operations and credit teams.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., ICA, ACCA, CFA) preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years in operations management, banking, credit analysis, and risk management.
  • Leadership experience in supervising teams.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and data interpretation abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Knowledge of banking operations, credit management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Problem-solving and prioritization skills.
