Job Description
Operations Manager
Subsidiary: Surge Microfinance
Purpose of the Job:
Reporting to the General Manager, the role oversees operational and credit functions, ensuring smooth operations, efficient credit management, and effective risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to streamline processes.
- Oversee day-to-day banking operations and customer services.
- Monitor operational KPIs to optimize processes and enhance efficiency.
- Coordinate operational activities with finance to align with business objectives.
- Implement quality control measures for service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Develop credit policies, guidelines, and procedures compliant with regulatory standards.
- Evaluate creditworthiness, review applications, and set credit limits.
- Manage accounts receivable aging and improve collection efforts.
- Cultivate relationships with customers, banks, and credit agencies.
- Conduct periodic credit reviews and risk assessments.
- Identify and mitigate operational and credit-related risks.
- Establish internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assess operational processes for improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate on risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Supervise and mentor operations and credit teams.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ICA, ACCA, CFA) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in operations management, banking, credit analysis, and risk management.
- Leadership experience in supervising teams.
Skills & Competencies:

- Knowledge of banking operations, credit management, and regulatory requirements.
