Job Description

As an Inventory Manager at Origin Chemist, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management, including planning, control, optimization, and reporting. You will work closely with our suppliers, warehouse team, and various internal stakeholders to ensure accurate inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and optimize operational efficiency. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in inventory management, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing inventory in a retail or wholesale pharmacy setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective inventory management strategies and policies to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize inventory holding costs.
  • Conduct regular analysis of inventory data, sales trends, and demand patterns to forecast future stock requirements and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of pharmaceutical products, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of inventory records with physical stock counts, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Optimize inventory control procedures, including batch management, expiration control, and proper storage of pharmaceutical products in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze key inventory performance metrics, such as stock turnover, fill rate, and carrying costs, and provide regular reports and recommendations to management.
  •  Collaborate with the warehouse team to streamline inventory management processes, improve storage and retrieval systems, and ensure efficient movement of stock.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory procedures and systems to identify areas for improvement, implement best practices, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  •  Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to inventory management in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the inventory team, including training, performance evaluation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a retail or wholesale pharmacy environment.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  •  Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, including storage requirements, regulatory guidelines, and batch management.
  • Proven experience in forecasting, demand planning, and supplier management.
  •  Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Ghana’s healthcare regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
  •  Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess a strong commitment to accuracy and precision.
