Job Description

Tullow Oil is looking for a Subsea Operations Engineer to join the Subsea Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for onshore operations, subsea support, and occasional company representative offshore for subsea intervention and other related activities. The Subsea Engineer will provide offshore technical support by participating in the day-to-day operations/maintenance of subsea hardware, frequent trips offshore for intervention work, initiate corrective/maintenance actions for failed equipment and IMR activities. The position will be primarily based in the Tullow Ghana Ltd. Accra office and will require occasional or frequent offshore or overseas visits, as dictated by business demands.

 

The Successful Candidate Responsibilities include:
•    Demonstrate a working knowledge of the operations and maintenance of all subsea facilities.  Onshore focal point for the operation of all subsea equipment and troubleshooting.  Participate in the review of the Jubilee & TEN operating procedures necessary to support subsea operations.
•    Resolve ongoing technical issues affecting installed subsea equipment.
•    Reviewing and commenting on technical documentation produced by contractors.
•    Monitor and report technical progress to Lead Subsea Operations Engineer.
•    Provide onshore technical assistance for the offshore operation of subsea facilities (trees, manifolds, etc) and related topsides equipment (HPU, SPCU, TUTA, MCS, etc).
•    Understand and demonstrate a good working knowledge of the subsea control system in order to provide onshore support to offshore engineers regarding subsea equipment control issues (e.g. Valve signature/configuration, alarms/trips setpoints, Cause and Effects, etc).
•    Develop understanding of flow assurance issues in the TEN and Jubilee subsea facilities.
•    Assist the Subsea IMR engineer in the development of work scope for subsea inspection and IMR activities (e.g. Subsea GVI / Riser annulus Testing).
•    Assist in the preparation and maintenance of short/long-term schedules of activities for intervention support vessel.
•    Participate in the review of IMR documents and subsea equipment procedures for the integrity and operations of all subsea assets.
•    Monitor the performance of the subsea equipment for potential failures identification, sensor/other auxiliary equipment (ASD, MPFM, SPFM, Chokes) for malfunctions to initiate proper remedial actions.
•    Interface with Development Project activities on behalf of the P & E team to ensure equipment (jumpers/trees/control system/SFLs/EFLs, etc) reliability/operability before installation, and to ensure correct procedures are followed during installation.
•    Participate in Risk Assessments, FATs, SITs, HAZOPs and HAZIDs as necessary.
•    Onshore focal point for coordinating mobilization of vendors to support critical offshore activities.
•    Provide technical support by offshore participation in critical intervention activities (e.g. support offshore subsea engineer on IMR vessel during critical intervention activities).
•    Coordinate offshore equipment mobilization, demobilization, transpooling, storage, repair, refurbishment with contractors like TechnipFMC, Aker, OneSubsea, Belmet7, etc.
•    Track inventory spares quantities for subsea equipment including flying leads, FPSO subsea equipment spares, etc, and initiate procurement of backfill and depleted items.
•    Coordinate the procurement of onshore and offshore consumables like subsea controls fluid, etc.
•    Prepare monthly reports of subsea operations report activities and make input into the preparation of other reports as required.
•    Coordinate the timely update of subsea as-built drawings as new equipment is installed
•    Coordinate the preparation of MOCs, risk assessments, lessons learned sessions and other meetings, as required, to support ongoing operations.

 

Education & Technical Experience 
•    An engineering degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical or Subsea engineering from a reputable organization
•    The candidate is expected to have a minimum of 5 years working experience in the Oil and Gas industry providing topside controls support.
•    The Candidate must possess knowledge of the design, operation and inspection of subsea equipment, subsea controls distribution equipment, pipelines, manifolds and connectors.
•    Working in similar position/experience with other subsea equipment suppliers/service providers.
•    Good knowledge and working experience with the TFMC control system, (Smart tool, KOS 200E, KOS 150), Yokogawa, etc.
•    Good knowledge of subsea hardware intervention and operations.
•    Good working knowledge in ROV and intervention vessel operations.

Skills
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and clearly
•    Good interpersonal skills, and able to work both as part of a dynamic team, and alone with minimal supervision
•    Excellent MS Office and presentation skills
•    Good understanding / interpretation of engineering drawings.
•    Proficiency or willingness to learn the use of AutoCad or similar software.
•    Project Management skills
•    Good troubleshooting skills
•    Good negotiation skills
