Job Description

Subsidiary/Support Services: John Murphy Construction

Location: Dawa

Purpose

To provide technical and administrative support to the construction site workers in planning and preparing construction sites as well as monitor progress and ensure that work is completed according to project specifications and program schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary inspections and studies of proposed construction site and provide input in determining the scope of preparatory work to be completed before commencement of project.
  • Complete CMP’s (Construction Management Plan) for approval.
  • Collaborate with Quantity Surveyor to generate resource estimates.
  • Request and monitor resources (materials, labour, equipment) needed for the smooth running of the project.
  • Plans for site meetings, kick off meetings, and issuing of site instructions.
  • Prepare POW for final approval by Construction Manager.
  • Monitor the POW and ensure that project milestones are completed on time and within scope and budget.
  • Ensure works are executed to specification by reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
  • Confirm any construction modifications on site.
  • Coordinate and work with Site Manager/ supervisor and sub-contractors.
  • Maintain documentation related to construction projects, including permits, material specification sheets, and budgetary documents.
  • Provide reports to the Construction Manager on updates on construction processes, resources, and project completion.
  • Establish and maintain standards of quality control for all projects.
Competencies

Knowledge of safety standards in construction industry
Knowledge in construction and design for both road and building.
Knowledge of project management with PMP certification a plus.

Qualifications/Experience

A Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Five (5) years’ experience with at least three (3) years in similar role.
