Job Description

Role: Planning Engineer

Location: Accra, Ghana

Our client, a reputable and leading real estate development firm with high quality properties specializing in large-scale residential and commercial Projects is to recruit a highly experienced Planning Engineer to join the team.

ROLE

The role of the Planning Engineer is to meticulously create and manage project schedules, coordinate tasks, optimise resource usage, and proactively mitigating potential delays. Ensure that all development and project activities are scheduled, tracked and that execution sticks to established timelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in establishing and verifying work breakdown structures to do with developments and construction schedules.
  • Develop and maintain the master schedule in accordance with the work breakdown structure, contracted scope, delivery dates and financial baseline.
  • Outlining the scope of projects, including determining the start and completion dates.
  • Liaising with supervisor to create and define project goals and objectives.
  • Assess progress and analyze the impact of forecast changes (schedule and financial) to identify threats at the earliest opportunity.
  • Tracking project costs and reporting on cost variances.
  • Monitoring projects implementation and reporting on time variances..
  • Propose and monitor progress on recovery schedules.
  • Monitor any contractual changes and amendments and their impact on project baselines.
  • Control the allocation of contingency reserve and updates to the schedule baseline ensuring alignment to the risk register.
  • Identifying and evaluating risks that can impact project delivery and providing timely warning/solutions to prevent/mitigate them.
  • Documenting and maintaining records on project scheduling processes.
  • Assist in the preparation on construction claims.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Project Management, Engineering or Construction Management (BSe, BTech, BEng) with a minimum of 5 years project scheduling experience.
  • A scheduling certification would be considered a plus.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Planning/Scheduling software such as MS
  • Projects or Pimavera P6
  • Proficient in multi project planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • English – Intermediate
