Job Description

Credit Manager

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing credit risk by making final decisions and executing credit management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee credit approval process
  • Manage team performance in achievement of business objectives
  • Participate in planned activities that are appropriate for own development
  • Ensure development and continuous value add improvement to operational processes
  • Provide input into the development of the tactical strategy, and develop and implement a supporting operational strategy
  • Manages risks in own area of responsibility
  • Compile reports that track progress and guide business to make informed decisions
  • Deliver customer experience excellence in own service delivery aligned to Organisational values and service standards
  • Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
  • Identify and utilise opportunities for revenue growth to deliver on sales targets
  • Manage credit system
  • Manage Credit Pipeline
  • Identify transaction specific risks including credit, taxation, accounting and legal
  • Introduce risk mitigating measures as input to structure transactions in line with the risk philosophy of the Bank
  • Accountability for originating and writing the Credit Application and co-presenting with the relevant RM to the Credit Committee
  • Ability to analyse company financial statements and to identify and quantify financial and business risks
  • An interest in and understanding of financial instruments and markets
  • Excellent report writing skills (reports are presented to the Credit Committee and to the Board of Directors).

In accordance with National Credit Act (NCA) candidates applying for this role will require a credit record check.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualification – Relevant Degree
  • Preferred Qualification – A Preferably Business Degree (Accounting as a major)
  • Experience – 3 to 5 years experience in a similar environment, of which 1 to 2 years ideally at junior (entry level) management level
  • Additional Knowledge – Additional Knowledge – Good understanding of lending procedures
