Job Description

The role of the Accounting and Internal Audit Manager is to assist Management to perform high-level professional level accounting work and is responsible for the preparation of YPGL financial statements and reports as well as an internal Audit function for YPG Group of companies.

This position exercises considerable judgment in planning, installing, revising and maintaining accounting procedures and the preparation of statements and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Daily and monthly supervision of YPGL’s finance and accounting functions in Ghana.
  • Professional presentation and able to promote a good image of the Company.
  • Compliance with company and relevant client policies, procedures and legislative health and safety codes and practices.
  • Ensuring that adequate duty of care is exercised in all aspects of your work activities

 

Daily and Monthly Management of YPGL Accounting and Audit functions including:

  • Compliance with all relevant statutory taxation and accounting regulations.
  • Manage the statutory interim and full year external audit function
  • Conduct the YPGL Internal Audit function throughout all YPGL entities in West Africa.
  •  Management of daily/monthly accounting, treasury, accounts payable, and payroll staff.
  • Monthly preparation and analysis of Financial Reports for The Company
  • Plan, organise, mentor & supervise the Ghana accounting staff
  • Assist Accounting staff/operations in other YPGL West Africa ventures as required.
  •  Compliance with all statutory regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism in direction of the works and in personal conduct.
  •  Compliance with all YPGL policies and procedures.
  •  Ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) provided are achieved within the time frame.
  • Ensure that the published policies on conflict of interest within the company are adhered to.
  • Any other duties that are deemed to be appropriate for this position and assigned by the Managing Director of the Company.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Tertiary education qualification
  • ACCA/ CA/ CPA qualification
  • Post Bachelor qualification

Technical & Generic Skills

  • Current Driving License (B)
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Sound judgment and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Good supervisory and organizational skills

Work experience

  • At least 6 years minimum working experience
  • At least 3 years of experience working within a big ‘4’ accounting practice
  • Good knowledge of financial software Pronto/ Pulse
  • Experience and advanced in Microsoft office knowledge
  • Knowledge of statutory Accounting and Tax compliance
  • A basic understanding of open pit mining and equipment utilized.
