Job Description – Human Resources Manager

 

Atlantic Lithium Limited is a lithium focused mineral exploration and development company (listed on AIM in the United Kingdom and ASX in Australia) with an advanced lithium pegmatite asset in Ghana and lithium pegmatite exploration assets in Ghana and Ivory Coast.

 

In Ghana, the Company has defined a 35.3Mt at 1.25% Li2O spodumene-rich lithium pegmatite called the Ewoyaa Lithium Project, within close proximity to key operational infrastructure. The Company is advancing the Project towards production. A Definitive Feasibility Study for the Project was announced on 29 June 2023, indicating strong commercial viability. The Project is currently undergoing permitting prior to the commencement of construction and production.

 

Job Overview

 

As the Human Resources Manager at Atlantic Lithium in Ghana, reporting to the General Manager – Operations you will be responsible for leading and directing all HR operations across the Company’s Ghanaian operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the HR policies and procedures align with the Company’s strategic goals and comply with local labour laws. You will act as a liaison between the Ghana office and the Group’s General Manager – People in Perth, ensuring a cohesive and unified HR strategy across the Company.

 

Per the Minerals and Mining Regulations on Local Content, this role is reserved for Ghanaians.

 

Key Responsibilities

1.     Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that support business objectives, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, and employee development.

2.     Talent Management: Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, and hiring. Focus on attracting and retaining top talent while promoting diversity and inclusion. Liaise with social performance leaders to ensure Local catchment recruitment policies of the company are fulfilled.

3.     Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees in Ghana regarding HR matters. Address and resolve employee grievances, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

4.     Performance Management: Implement performance review systems and work with department heads to set clear performance standards and goals.

5.     Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and performance. Support the sustainability initiatives of the Social Department in the areas of local talent development and apprenticeship programs.

6.     Compliance and Legal: Ensure compliance with local labour laws and regulations. Stay updated on legal changes and adjust HR policies accordingly. Support the GM to ensure compliance to the Local Content regulations of the Minerals Commission.

7.     Payroll and Benefits Administration: Oversee the payroll process and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

8.     Expats and Trainers: Manage expats while in Ghana and ensure good integration, knowledge transfer and comply with all work permit and localisation requirements and accompanying training needs.

9.     HR Metrics and Reporting: Analyse HR metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Regularly report to the GM – People in Perth on HR performance and initiatives.

10.   Welfare and Other Facilities: Liaise with other departments as determined by the GM to manage welfare facilities such as camp and housing, medical, recreational facilities etc on the ML site or as determined from time to time.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of HR management experience in the mining or related industry is a must.
  • Strong understanding of Ghanaian labour laws and regulations.
  • Strong Operational Knowledge of Ghanaian Mining Law and regulations, statutory reporting requirements and certifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English; and the ability to speak Akan or Fante fluently is required.

Working Conditions

  • This position will be located at the Ewoyaa Lithium Project site in the Mfantseman Municipality with regular travel to Accra.
