Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a Health and Safety Officer located in Apedwa. The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that the organization meets safety, health, and environmental standards and complies with applicable regulations. This role will also involve monitoring and assessing the health and safety risks associated with the organization’s operations, investigating accidents and incidents, and managing reporting and record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, or a related field
  • Knowledge of local and national regulations and standards as related to workplace health and safety
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing safety and health policies and programs in the workplace
  • Experience conducting safety and health inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety concerns to employees at all levels of the organization
  • Dedication to continuous learning and professional development in order to stay up-to-date with changes in safety and health regulations and standards
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) or Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) is a plus
  • Experience in the mining and extractive industry is a plus
