The Company

GFA Consulting Limited is a corporate finance boutique based in Accra, Ghana and specialized in fundraising advisory for companies that operate in West and Central Africa (see www.gfa-consulting.com). As of February 2024, we have fundraising mandates in Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire Kenya, Cameroon and Congo. We also propose origination and business assessment services to private
equity funds investing in Africa, and we work with international development agencies that are implementing business support programs for SMEs.

Position overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Manager to join our team in Ghana. The Finance Manager will play a key role in managing the financial operations of our firm and providing strategic guidance to support our business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of financial management principles.

Key responsibilities

• Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic planning
    and decision-making.
  • Analyze financial performance and key metrics, identifying areas for improvement and
    recommending solutions to enhance profitability and efficiency.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into the underlying drivers of financial
    performance.

• Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets,
    cash flow statements, and other financial analyses.
  • Develop and maintain all relevant financial policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings, financial reporting
    standards, and other statutory obligations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities as needed.
  • Stay abreast of developments in financial regulations, accounting standards, and industry
    trends to ensure the firm remains compliant and competitive.

• Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage cash flow effectively, monitoring liquidity requirements and optimizing working capital.
  • Implement and maintain cash management policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks and maximize returns on investments.
  • On a weekly basis, develop 12-week cash flow forecasts to provide management with a clear understanding of the company’s cash flow situation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations, with a track record of driving financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, analysis tools, and the MITA accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Ethical conduct and integrity, with a commitment to upholding professional standards and best practices.

The process

The successful candidate will be provided with training materials that he/she will be able to refer to during the probation period. In addition, a performance appraisal will take place after 3 months to assess strengths and weaknesses and to define a corrective plan for the rest of the probation period.

Starting date and location

We are looking for the Finance Manager to start as early as possible at GFA Consulting’s offices at 9, Walnut Street, off A&C Mall road, in East Legon.
