Job summary

The candidate is the custodian of the financial accounts (general ledger and sub-ledgers, trial balance, balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement), and all relevant disclosures or information for regulatory reporting, financial reporting and financial analysis purposes. This role involves strict compliance with international financial reporting standards, income tax laws and other regulatory framework.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervision of the finance officers in the finance department.
  2. Provision of accurate and timely financial and operational information to stakeholders with insight to key data points.
  3. Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly financial statement (including variance analysis) in line with IFRS for consideration by Executive Management with top quality commentary, giving insight to financial and business trend.
  4. In charge of monitoring budget and ensuring optimisation of both capital and operating expenses in line with the procurement policy and approved budget.
  5. Ensure the integrity of financial information from both Core Banking Software and Financial Management Software.
  6. Build schedules for reconciliation of relevant GL lines on a regular basis.
  7. Responsible for daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/semi-annual/yearly reports to regulators and any other stakeholders.
  8. Ensure there is adequate general and specific bad debts provisioning in line with BoG rules and IFRS 9.
  9. Ensure bank reconciliation and all other reconciliations are prepared regularly and timely.
  10. Assist in financial projections/budgets / treasury planning.
  11. Ensure payment of vendors/creditors are done on a timely basis.
  12. Ensure insurance policies and other agreements are approved and in place always.
  13. Assist in computation of performance bonus using key inputs for payroll processing.
  14. Review payroll and ensure timely run and in compliance with the tax and pension laws of Ghana.
  15. Ensure that all statutory obligations of the company (including PAYE, and SSNIT contributions) are promptly settled.
  16. Develop and design models with the help of Microsoft Excel, BI tools etc
  17. Maintain good relationship with bankers, external auditors and other stakeholders.
  18. Ensure that financial agreements exist for all significant recurring transactions and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  1.  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite especially Excel.
  2. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
  3. Financial reporting and IFRS knowledge.
  4. Financial modelling and data analytics.
  5. Payroll management.
  6. Regulatory laws awareness.
  7. Eye for details.
  8. Leadership, planning and deadline management.

Education and professional training

  1. Qualified finance professional from a reputable institution (CA, ACCA, CFA, CIMA, etc.)
  2. Financial institution experience is a key advantage
  3. Relevant experience in a similar role is essential
