The company urgently seeks a Finance Manager to assist in executing key financial and HR obligations within the company’s offices in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia as part of a multinational team.

Job Description

The Role

The Finance Manager (FM) is a member of the 4Ward Development multinational team. The multinational team is primarily responsible for ensuring business operations are structured for scale while maintaining excellent performance and integrity. They will ensure a quality customer experience, efficient maintenance and repairs, investable financial performance, and continuous provision of safe, reliable, convenient, and affordable water services at scale. This includes providing the day-to-day leadership and management of the associated staff and consultants, as well as supporting the associated line managers in each of the 4Ward branches towards these goals. Further, the multinational team will lead the documentation, evaluation, and deployment of standard operating procedures with the aim of creating time, reducing errors, facilitating consistency, and scaling profits. The multinational team is successful when it has captured and replicated the factors that lead 4Ward business units to achieve product-market fit, consistently exceed their customers’ expectations, and reliably meet their annual targets for profitability, performance, and scale.

The FM is responsible for ensuring these responsibilities are met within the Finance and Human Resource departments of the business.

The FM will report to the Director of Systems Engineering & Quality, OKC, USA.

The key responsibilities will include but not be limited to*:

  • Increase the profitability of 4Ward Development businesses
  • Evaluate and support business operations to increase profitability, improve efficiency, and decrease costs of each business stream
  • Manage and validate the financial model for 4Ward
    Development
  • Evaluate potential investment or financing opportunities
  • Identify and communicate potential risks
  • Optimize capital investments and logistics
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for key stakeholders of both 4 Ward multinational and individual country operations
  • Cashflow forecasting, Profit and Loss, and Balance Sheet
  • Ensure 4Ward Development operations are built for scale
  • Provide accountability on the quality and accuracy of company accounting
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures are upheld with means of verification
  • Oversee multinational payroll and bookkeeping
  • Conduct internal auditing for each 4Ward branch
  • Provide support and coordination with the Water4 finance team on behalf of each branch
  • Monitoring spending and consolidating budgets
  • Collect supporting evidence for grant compliance and external audits
  • Processes invoices and approvals
  • Evaluate and support business procedures for human resources
  • Ensure excellent employee experience and high retention rates
  • Facilitate company-wide policy communications
  • Knowledge management of financial processes, systems, and intellectual property
  • Document and maintain company processes, systems, and issues
  • Coordinate, develop, train, and roll out the most efficient and effective solutions
  • Assess priority risks and opportunities
  • Monitor industry trends
  • Manage finance, audit, legal, and other professional consultants and projects
  • Ensure 4Ward Development operations are anchored by their core values
  • Innovate to increase revenue, lower costs, and improve performance and efficiency with the intent to increase profitability
  • Create a culture of teamwork, faith, and accountability, developing and empowering employees with the Finance and Human Resource departments across 4 Ward branches

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar software
  • Experience using communication platforms such as MS
    Office suite, project management platforms, cloud-based email services, workflow sharing, and document storage platforms
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills as well as ability to work with and motivate other development professionals and volunteers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Capacity to work independently and within a team environment
  • Talent for working cooperatively to achieve common goals;
  • support cooperation, collaboration and the sharing of information continuously improving standards to maintain quality
  • Openness to new ideas and their implementation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment
  • Mastery in listening carefully to and understanding the needs of others, both internally and externally, and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent and timely manner
  • Strength to provide direction and motivation to others through communication, modeling appropriate behavior, optimism and high achievement
  • Willingness and availability to travel up to 6-8 weeks per year.
  • Ability to conduct office work remotely preferred

Education Requirements

  • Master-level degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with 5 – 10 years of experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) accreditation preferred
  • (ICA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Knows and adheres to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Securities and Exchange
  • Commission (SEC) rules and regulations
