Merdeo Foods™️ is a business-to-business online marketplace that connects local farmers directly to restaurants and vendors through E-commerce and cold solar storage houses for quality fresh produce. Our aim is to simplify the process of sourcing affordable quality ingredients for chefs and help farmers increase their reach and sales. We are located in Adenta and are looking for a Chief Operations Officer to join our team.

Role Description

As our Chief Operations Officer, you will work with the CEO and senior leadership team to drive the strategic direction and growth of the organization. We need you to be a part of our mission to change the game in agricultural procurement. If you’re passionate about sustainable supply chains and have a background in agriculture, you’re the one we’re looking for!. This is a part-time role and a hybrid role, implying that the role is located in Adenta but some work from home is acceptable.

Role and Responsibilities:

As the Chief Operations Officer, you will play a crucial role in our mission to connect small restaurants with local farmers and suppliers, ensuring the efficient procurement of fresh produce. Your responsibilities include:

Source and Manage Farmers or Suppliers Database: Identify, onboard, and maintain a database of reliable farmers and suppliers for our fresh produce procurement. Establish and nurture relationships with key partners.

Advise on Agricultural Procurement: Provide valuable insights and advice on agricultural procurement strategies. Collaborate with the CEO to optimize the procurement process for our customers.

Supply Chain Management: Work closely with the CEO to ensure timely and efficient delivery of fresh produce to our warehouse. Oversee the supply chain and logistics to guarantee product availability.

Negotiation and Best Deals: Negotiate with farmers and suppliers to secure the best deals and prices for fresh produce. Ensure that the interests of farmers are considered and communicated within the Merdeo Foods team.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

A background or experience in agriculture or agribusiness is preferred.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and other relevant software for data management.

Availability of a personal laptop for remote work.

Strong ability to work efficiently under pressure, both independently and collaboratively.

Must reside in Accra, Ghana.

Entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for driving sustainable change in the agricultural supply chain.
