About Rainforest Builder:
Rainforest Builder is a tropical forest restoration company headquartered in London. We restore degraded land to natural forests to sequester carbon from the atmosphere. Restoring tropical forests is the most effective technology that exists today to draw down carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. We are on a mission to restore 1M hectares of rainforest worldwide to sequester 15M tonnes per year of CO2.
Rainforest Builder combines experience from the commercial forestry industry with expertise from top scientists across the world. We are establishing a new type of forestry company across Africa to restore forest cover with indigenous species. We call them Restoration Forestry Companies and their core product is carbon and biodiversity, not timber.
Rainforest Builder currently has restoration forestry companies in Ghana and Sierra Leone, with a plan to expand further across West Africa.
About Rainforest Builder:
The goal of Rainforest Builder Ghana is to restore 100,000 ha of degraded land across the country to tropical forests. We want to build the largest natural forest in Ghana and create thousands of jobs. With over 500 ha of degraded land planted in 2023, we plan to plant 1000 ha in 2024 and scale-up annually to achieve 100,000 ha by 2040.
Responsibilities:
The Quality Control Technician will play a vital role in conducting field surveys to collect forestry data and support restoration operations.
Conduct accurate surveys of land, infrastructure, and sites using GPS technology, compasses, and surveying tools.
Mapping of allocated compartment.
Ensures compliance with quality standards in silviculture activities.
Support the development of field data collection and safety protocols.
Assist with other planning activities when needed.
Any other responsibilities assigned by the planning manager.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related field.
Minimum 1 year experience in surveying, mapping, and GPS, data collection.
Strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail in data collection and analysis.
Comfortable working in remote areas and varying weather conditions, with the ability to travel and work outdoors.
The Quality Control Technician will report to the Quality Control Forester and contribute to Rainforest Builder’s forestry operations in Ghana.
