Management Controller
Direct report: Chief Finance Officer
Position overview
To support CFO in driving business performance by providing insights into data, whilst assisting department managers with ad-hoc analysis. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would possess strong leadership skills and an understanding of business, accounting principles, and modern tools and techniques of analysing data.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Assist with company-wide development of KPIs; monitor and report on these KPIs and provide in-time advice to the CFO.
- Assist commercial team with costing, pricing, and promotional activities. For each promotion, perform an analysis of margins before and after promotion and advise management; see to the set-up and closure of discount and promotional initiatives in the ERP (Microsoft Dynamics AX).
- Ensure procurement efficiency by regularly reviewing landed costs of inventory; make informed recommendations based on this analysis.
- Prepare monthly business unit margins and profitability report.
- Facilitate positive change to revenue control systems, processes, and revenue management by consistently addressing revenue cycle deficiencies (from sales, contract management, contracts, pricing, billing to receivables, etc.)
- Coordinate annual budgeting.
Prepare monthly cost variance analysis report. - Advise a sound basis for overhead cost apportionment among business units and departments.
- Regularly review inventory levels to ensure compliance with established policies, e.g., (.e., ensue stock turnover or rotation is maintained within limits, avoiding over/understocking)
- Prepare monthly stock valuation and turnover analysis report for review with the CFO.
- Calculate commission for sales staff ensuring all KPIs and metrics are considered.
Key Qualifications and Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting, management information systems, or economics, 8-10 years of finance experience; at least 2 years in a similar function, preferably in a retail environment.
- Accountancy certification such as CMA, CIMA or CGMA or equivalent is great plus.
- Deep understanding of the FMCG (preferably retail) business, its value chain, and financial systems
- Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel for data analysis/build dashboards
- Knowledge of modern tools and techniques of analyzing data, e.g., Power BI
- Experience using an ERP such as Microsoft Dynamics AX or equivalent.
