Job Description

As a Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all activities related to the logistics and supply chain operations. You’ll manage a team of logistics coordinators, warehouse personnel, and transportation specialists to ensure timely delivery of goods while optimizing costs and resources.

Responsibilities:

 

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead and supervise a team of logistics coordinators, warehouse staff, and transportation personnel.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to ensure high performance and productivity.

Logistics Coordination:

  • Coordinate and oversee all logistics activities, including receiving, inventory management, order processing, and shipping.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources and timely execution of logistics plans.

Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure accuracy through regular cycle counts and reconciliation.
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize stock outs and excess inventory.

Warehouse Operations:

  • Supervise warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Enforce safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.

Transportation Management:

  • Coordinate transportation activities, including carrier selection, route optimization, and shipment tracking.
  • Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost savings

Supplier and Vendor Management:

  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with transportation providers and other service partners.

Quality Control:

  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure that goods meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and other logistics-related data.
  • Prepare regular reports and performance metrics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements within the logistics operations.
  • Implement best practices and initiatives to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards governing logistics and transportation operations.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience (3 years) in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, transportation systems, and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
