Job Description
Job Title: Farms Manager
location: Head Office, Nsawam
Company: Kemist Group
Brief Overview
The Kemist Farms Manager will be responsible for the smooth and day-to-day running of the company. S/he will be in charge of daily planning, organisation, supervision, short and long term planning and administration of activities of Kemist farms Limited.
Duties
- forward planning
- making policy decisions
- budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records
- organising sales and purchases of livestock, farm equipment, crops and agricultural products
- handling paperwork and keeping administrative records
- recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers
- making sure that work progresses satisfactorily
- ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards
- keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases, etc
- ensuring that the farms are profitable and meet projected financial targets
- organising maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery
- advertising and marketing farm products or the work of the farmer.
- writing business proposals/plans and implementing them
- expansion of the farms
- strike new deals, lead the company into new and great partnership
- travel around to take business activities on behalf of the company
- organising public lectures, talks and education for our clients, customers and other farmers who may need it
- reporting directly to the General Manager of Kemist Group on regular basis
Requirements, Skills and Abilities
- Flexibility
- Analytical skills
- Commercial awareness
- Must posses some good IT skills
- Ability to apply technical knowledge of the environment and legislation/public policy matters in a practical environment
- Posses good Marketing and sales skills
- Teamwork and leadership
- Ready to spend most of the time on the farms
- In-depth knowledge in crop and animal production(poultry, piggery, pineapples, pawpaw, maize), food processing, agrochemicals, etc
- Excellent writer
- Excellent communication skills(fluent in English, etc)
- Excellent broker
- Conversant with consumer trends and needs
- Must be a multitasker
- Ability to work under pressure at busy days and spend extra hours during planting, harvesting, etc
- Physically strong and energetic
- Must be versatile
- Must be creative, initiative and propose new ideas to management
- Must be hard working and work within time
- Must be confident and very knowledgeable, even outside their area of expertise
- Ready to learn new things
- Ready to perform ad-hoc administration tasks
- Must be polite
- Must be able to pay attention to details.
Education + Experience
- A BACHELORS/MASTERS DEGREE IN AGRICULTURE or a related subject such as:* Agricultural Engineering
* Crop Management
* Farm Business Management
* Horticulture - Two or more years experience on the farm or related fields, national service excluded.
