Job Description
Position: HSE Officer
Type of Contract: Contract
Job Location: Volta and Eastern Region
Start: Immediate
Reports to: Project Manager
Job Summary:
The HSSE Officer will be in charge of creating a safe workplace that meets regulatory standards and cultivating a culture of health and safety awareness.
Job Description:
- Developing and implementing HSSE policies and procedures for the construction site, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and address potential HSSE hazards and risks.
- Developing and delivering HSSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to the construction site.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date HSSE records and reports, including incident reports, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Investigating incidents and accidents on the construction site, identifying root causes, and developing corrective actions.
- Coordinating emergency response plans and procedures for the construction site, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and medical response plans.
Requirements:
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a construction site HSSE supervision role
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage a challenging workload under pressure and deliver excellent operational service.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate HSSE hazards and risks.
- Knowledge of local, HSSE regulations and compliance requirements.
- Good MS Office skills
- Excellent written and verbal English and local language skills.
