Job Description

A prestigious skyline lounge and restaurant located in the heart of Cantonments is in search of a dynamic General Manager. The General Manager shall oversee the daily operations of the lounge/restaurant as well as provide strategic direction. The General Manager shall equally plan and execute sales and marketing campaigns utilizing the tools and technology readily available to ensure a profitable running of the business.

It is important for the General Manager to be involved in all aspects of the business operations. The General Manager shall be just as responsible for dealing with complaints as for strategizing and preparing performance reports. He/she shall be a reference for employees and clients as well as external vendors. The General Manager must be able to guide employees to work as a well-functioning team. This includes an ability to recruit, train and assess performance of personnel. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be a team player and an effective leader, able to set examples and foster a climate of cooperation.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff. • Implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
• Maintaining operations by implementing policies and standard operating procedures.
• Attracting customers by developing and implementing marketing, advertising and public relations programs.
• Maintaining customer satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings; initiating improvements and building relationships with preferred patrons.
• Communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
• Maintaining safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures.
Complying with health and legal regulations as well as maintaining security systems.
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the lounge/restaurant industry and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
• Supervising work at all levels (receptionists, kitchen staff, bar, waiters, office employes etc.) and set clear objectives.
• Plan activities and allocate responsibilities to achieve the most efficient operating model.
• Manage budgets/expenses, analyze and interpret financial information and monitor sales and profits. •Develop and implement an intuitive and efficient marketing strategies to promote the lounge/restaurant’s services.
• Communicate with customers when appropriate (welcome them in the facility, address their complaints, find solutions to problems, offer information etc.)
• Deal with maintenance issues, shortages in staff or equipment, renovations etc.
• Collaborate with external parties such as suppliers, travel agencies, event/conference planners etc.
• Inspect facilities regularly and enforce strict compliance with health and safety standards.

Requirements/Skills

• Proven work experience as Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager or similar role.
• Proven customer service experience as a manager.
• BSc Degree in Business Administration; Hospitality Management or culinary schooling is a plus.
• Financial management skills
• Excellent customer service skills as well as a business mindset
• Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
• Outstanding leadership skills and a great attention to detail
• Understanding of hospitality management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines
• Demonstrate strong verbal and oral communication
• Must be self-disciplined and have high integrity
• Working knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of hospitality management software is an advantage.
