Job Description

Accounts Officer
The Accounts Officer shall be responsible for a wide variety of finance-related tasks that are primarily associated with preparing financial records in the Finance Department. These tasks often include computing and filing statutory returns, review expense documentation and prepare payment vouchers and organizing and maintaining financial records and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and performance budgets.
  • Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts, bank statements and fixed assets.
  • Ensure processing of payroll based on information from the Human Resource Department.
  • Keeps and maintains an imprest for the company.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts and records entries per IFRS and company accounting policies.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Secures financial information by completing and verifying database backups.
  • Accurately prepare and file statutory payments (SSNIT, VAT, PAYE, etc)
  • Supervise Accounting Clerical staff by coordinating activities.
  • Reviews payments by verifying documentation.
  • Monitor and make recommendations for asset retirement and replacement based on the company’s PPE schedule.
  • Preparation and update of all accounting schedules. Example Accruals, Salary Advance, Loan, PPE, Receivables, Payables schedules, etc.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Education:

  • First Degree (Bachelor of Commerce, Bsc Admin (Accounting option) or similar education  ACCA or CA Level II and above

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 Years experience in accounting or a related field

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of financial accounting
  • Good Knowledge of Ghanaian tax laws
  • Must have good reporting skills, attention to detail, deadline-oriented.
  • Must possess the ability to analyze figures, excellent verbal and written skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, establish priorities, and organize efficiently.
  •  Must very proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Accounting Softwares

Other Attributes:

  • Proficiency in Sage/Pastel Evolution is an added advantage

Supervisory Responsibility

This job requires no supervisory responsibilities.
