Job Description

Job Title: Procurement Officer

Department: Wholesale

Industry: Healthcare Reporting to: Operations Manager

Role Purpose: The procurement officer’s primary role is to ensure that the company gets the
highest quality of desired goods and services at the best price possible and increases value for
money. The role is to be performed with a high standard of service to both internal and
external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with at least three (3) vendors for improved pricing be it on cost reductions, faster process turn-around times, or better supplier management.
  • Maintain and update a list of suppliers in terms of products, and prices for potential future considerations.
  • Document and regularly update procedures for the procurement of goods and services for the company.
  • Ensure all user departments or units adhere to SOPs and the procurement policies of the company.
  • Coordinate with an internal audit on matters relating to inventory count.
  • Responsible for procurement of medical consumables and disposables, office consumables, equipment and materials after verifying requisitions for the user department.
  • Review, compare, and analyze products to be purchased for approval by the operations manager.
  • Institute appropriate controls for the disposal of unused items
  • Maintain accurate records of items, and reports on project store or warehouse status and prepare monthly reports regarding the operation.
  • Undertake company procurement planning and coordination of requisitions from user units/dependents.
  • Responsible for checking if goods received are of the right quantities, quality and price of goods are as agreed and that all goods delivered are secured and inventory records appropriately updated.
  • Responsible for ensuring that goods and services are checked against contracts, waybills, and invoices per delivery notes in conjunction with the head of the requisitioning departments or units.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, and/or must be a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Ghana with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant working experience.
