Job Title: Fiber Engineer
Reports To: Operations and Maintenance Manager
JOB PURPOSE
• Fiber cable installation, construction, maintenance and repair works.
• Ensuring the highest levels of fiber infrastructure maintenance and
availability
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
• Maintain agreed SLAs for fault and new service provision through effective work allocation and also drive accountability and efficient delivery within the outsourced operations for all managed services
• Fiber splicing activities, cable and safety test equipment and use of all types of cable construction equipment.
• Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for fiber network.
• Cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs and routers.
• site surveys, condition discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals for cable installation feasibility.
• Network analysis and routine troubleshooting
• Liaise with vendors and other colleagues for problem resolution
• Maintain positive client relationships
Qualification/Work Experience
• The candidate should possess a bachelor’s in electrical/electronic engineering, telecommunication engineering or any related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in NOC operations
Technical Competencies
• Good understanding of KPIs and service levels and processes to achieve and
measures them.
• Locate and repair cables faults to maintain existing cable network without causing
signal failure interruptions.
• Understand construction prints and splice schematics.
• Experience in managing field vendors / contractors on meeting service levels and
delivery targets
• Must be analytical, with high level troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Network analysis and routine troubleshooting
• Identification and prevention of any potential issues regarding the network
• Knowledge of networks growth analysis and capacity planning processes and
techniques.
