Job Description

Position: Farm Manager/Agronomist

Company: Axis Human Capital

Location: Ghana

Our client, an ambitious and growing agribusiness company engaged in the production of high-quality food crops seeks to hire a Farm Manager/Agronomist. He /She will bring strong agronomic expertise, business sense and leadership to the production team and the smallholder farmers.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and make important policy, planning and strategy decisions concerning farm management
  • Identification and registration of out growers in target localities
  • Facilitate farm input distribution to outgrowers
  • Provide orientation to outgrowers on Company’s outgrowers policies
  • Provide technical training to outgrowers on good agricultural practices (GAPs)
  • Conduct farm visits and ensure that good agricultural practices are being observed
  • Maintain a good relationship with farmers and promote future alliances
  • Implement policies on full recoveries from outgrowers
  • Oversee budgeting, planning, auditing, and reporting on outgrowers system
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company
  • Build alliances and partnerships with other partners
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Agronomy or a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years’ working experience with small scale farmers is required
  • Deep understanding of the formation of farmer groups/associations
  • Considerable knowledge of crop management and recovery management
  • Working knowledge of using Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn
  • Willingness and passion for working in rural areas
  • A valid driver’s license
